DimSum Goes Home

We had two great home check/meet+greets with DimSum this week, and another couple of great applications on the mainland and up island. Although DimSum did great with both meet+greets, it was love at first lick for DimSum and Colin and Rebecca. She followed them around their cabin without prompting, and for the first time since she's become comfortable here, she was content to leave my side. She was all kisses and wagging tail. She told me: THESE are my people.

So, I e-mailed Rebecca at about eight-thirty this morning, saying if they wanted her, she was theirs. They could pick up sometime over the weekend, and I would go half way if they wanted since they're about an hour away from here. Ten minutes later, I get a call. "Can we come pick her up today?!"

Of course! And so, a couple of hours later, I helped DimSum into a new harness. She hoped into their car (Beckett and Lemon tried to escape with them too, but were foiled) and off she went.

Good-bye bearded lady.

A couple of hours later, I even have a small update:

She settled RIGHT in and found all her toys. She's a pretty happy dog, methinks :)
I'm glad we got her. This is going to be an awesome adventure and we're so excited
to have her in our lives.
                 Thanks for everything!
DimSum's new name is now: Lucy.

Ironically, Chowmein was also renamed Lucy. So, I will have to call them Lucy-Sum and Lucy-Chow. Good luck in your new home girl! And thank you Rebecca and Colin for reaffirming there are AWESOME adopters amongst the false starts. And a big thank-you to everyone who applied for her. I hope you continue your search for your new family remember.

Best wishes,
Emily

Hey Emily..

.grats on lucky "lucy's" adoption...good work you guys...It must be true that the right dog really does end up with the right people...(perhaps after false start or two) Still working with Darth Veda at the dog park...I am sure that she wd not be such a noisy wee bossy boots at times but with her high prey drive and the fact that she was running feral up north...well it makes me nervous about letting her off leash just yet..with the Dallas road traffic...We will try it down on the mostly enclosed beach area and hopefully she will have the opportunity to meet some dogs in a different state of mind...At times she can be sooo neutral...and then bam...She is an affectionate little sweetheart though and Sukhi-pants adores her as well...Keep in touch and hope that all is well.
